About me
Well, hello there!
My name is Leon Muizer, and I was born in April 1993 in a small town called Heemskerk. As a young kid, I always had an interest in music, but it wasn't until I turned 15 that I started playing guitar. I played in a few bands and eventually met Twan in 2009.
He introduced me to my first "real" metal band, and I joined them as a Rhythm Guitarist.
After a while, I realized that there was a shortage of metal drummers in the area. It was a real challenge to find a drummer who fit the band's personality and style, and also lived nearby.
So, I decided to focus my energy on learning the drums and dropped the guitar. I told my bandmates to give me three months to learn the double bass, and then we regrouped. Unfortunately, we eventually split ways, but we remained friends.
In 2018, I was asked to join the melodic metal band Nafearya by frontman Alex Beekman. I instantly said yes and spent four years with the band, learning a lot and making great friendships. We played gigs all over The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, and I absolutely loved it.
In 2021, I was asked to join the metalcore band Storm of Silence (the name before Serotonia) by bass player Tessa. I loved everything about the band, from the music to the professionalism to the writing processes. However, due to my work, I could only play in one metal band, so I had to choose.
I decided to stay with Nafearya because we were working on a new album and played the semi-finals of the metalbattle.
In the summer of 2022, Tessa contacted me again, this time to join Serotonia. I strongly believed in the band's philosophy and also knew they were looking for another guitarist, so I called up my buddy Twan to come with me for an audition. After a lot of thought, I decided to quit Nafearya and join Serotonia. But I made the condition that we would still rehearse on the same times and in the same building, and they accepted. We are still great friends with Nafearya.
As I write this, I've been playing drums in Serotonia for about 11 months, playing dozens of shows, creating several EPs, and even making it to the finals of the Dutch Wacken Metal Battle. It's been a wild ride so far, but I love every minute of it.
I mostly listed to folk metal, black metal and melodic/death.
My favorite bands are; Brymir, Finntroll, Eluveitie and Wintersun.
